GayWired Media Launches Presidential Political Coverage Through an LGBT Lens
In a New, Exclusive Column, Award-Winning Journalist Karen Ocamb Examines the Policies and Issues Affecting the LGBT Community

LOS ANGELES – December 18, 2007 – GayWired Media, a leading digital media company targeting the LGBT consumer, announces the debut of an original political column from award-winning journalist Karen Ocamb that will examine the policies and issues leading up to Super Tuesday 2008, when an upward of 20 states’ voters will head to the polls to cast a ballot for their Party’s presidential candidate. The column debuts on 247gay.com and GayWired.com today.

“We are thrilled to gain the expertise of Karen Ocamb to deliver her own brand of political coverage focusing on priorities important to the LGBT community,” said Paul Colichman, CEO of GayWired Media. “Karen is sure to bring a voice to GayWired Media that is both original and thoughtful in its analysis of the 2008 primary season.”

Ocamb will lend her unique voice and perspective to the issues important to the LGBT community and how each of the presidential candidates is addressing these concerns. Ocamb will introduce the candidates to voters and address how their potential platforms will affect the lives of the LGBT community. Additionally, she will examine how the primary results in various states will affect who will become the eventual party nominees for President of the United States.

Having garnered exclusive interviews with top politicians, including Bill Clinton when he was still a presidential candidate, Ocamb’s experience brings a powerful political voice Ocamb to GayWired Media. Both 247gay.com and GayWired.com will be an invaluable source for news outlets and bloggers looking to capture headlines of concern to LGBT Americans.

Ocamb began her career at CBS News in New York clerking for Dan Rather and Bob Schieffer during Watergate and the end of the Vietnam War. Upon leaving CBS News, she went on to produce and contribute to numerous mainstream and LGBT media outlets, including The Los Angeles Times, The Advocate, TV Guide Online and Sirius Satellite Radio, before joining GayWired.com in 2000, when she covered the Millennium March on Washington, the Democratic and Republican conventions and the 13th International AIDS Conference in South Africa.

In 2004, the National Lesbian and Gay Journalist Association/Los Angeles honored Ocamb for her body of work. That same year she was named Woman of the Year by Christopher Street West, organizers of Los Angeles’ annual LGBT Pride Event.

Visit 247gay.com and GayWired.com each Tuesday for Karen Ocamb’s exclusive and in-depth coverage of the 2008 election season.
